1.His eyes helps him to look, for example if somewhere near him there's a bear,he could see and be careful. His ears helps him to listen to the surrounding,if there's an animal near the bushes and trees he could listen to the noise when they walk on the leaves and grass.Having these two senses makes us feel more cautious.
2.At the beginning he was very weak and did not know how to live in the wild.He didn't know how to keep calm,he will just cry when he felt scared and unprotected.
Afterwards,he became strong, wary of his surroundings. He learnt how to survive in the wild. When he meet with problems he would not cry but determine to figure it out and find a better way to improve.~audrey

1.He was using his eyes to see the surrounding, thingking that there might be other animals like tiger or bear wants to attack him.He used his ears to listen if there was any footsteps of human or the animals, or maybe he used his ears to feel the surrounding just like the blind people.
2.AT first Brian was weak and strange to the surrounding and the only thing he could do was cry, but after spending three or four days, he has been much more familiar to it and knowing what to do to keep him alive, but when the plane flew away he felt much more depress than at first as he kept thinking that he could not depend the food he had forever and staying there forever.

1)As he was the only one in the island,, he got to get out from this island that nobody lives,,
So, he'll need to look out for any passer plane. So, he let his eyes and ears to work for him as he got to listen to the plane engine sound and look out for the plane or any things that pass by.So that he can shout for help and he'll have this feeling that his mother and father is looking for him. Also to be aware of his surroundings so that he knows what to do when the things happen.
2)In the beggining of the story Brian was not independent. He felt he was miserable and he thought in a negative way. He whined a lot. He was hate his parents about the divorce, but, he started to change. He had a mind that he wanted to survive. He thought of one person saying think in a positive way and the things will be easier. He connected all his idea and used that idea to survive in the island. He had confident that he'll survive as his parents will be looking for him. He thought to himself that they'll be hope. So, he bulit his shelter and find food to survive. I think he had become mature and use the concepts that what he have learnt from the school or his surrounding.

1)His eyes help him to look for any danger around him so he could react before the danger come to him.For example if there is a tiger near him he could see it first so he could run away.his ear help him to hear the sound coming out from the animal or human so he could where they are.
2)He at fist was a boy who don't know how to survive in the forest now he became an adult know how to survive in the forest and not only know how to cry when he meet some problem.

Reflection on Hatchet Debate

Within 1 hour, 39 pupils spoke out and shared some of their thoughts on a given topic and in so doing allowed others to have insight of their own beliefs and values - think of the 'Perfect Home' discussion.

I would like to applaud the 39 individuals for bringing such a professional quality to the debate - all contributed to its success and the 'energy' that resulted from this concerted effort will be converted into greater motivation for 6 Grace.

Please take time to reflect and share your thoughts on the following:

How did this debate affect my perceptions of myself?
In what ways did the debate fit my learning style?
Has it influenced the way I perceive English and Literature?
What did the debate show us about the 'tricks' authors use to captivate the heart and mind of the reader?

I had such pleasure hosting the debate and I felt the true magic of 6 Grace.

Please post your thoughts. Thank you.
