Today was one of the most mermorable day in Bukit Timah Primary School. 6GRACE WAS THE CHAMPION OF THE PRIMARY 6 LEVEL AND THE WHOLE SCHOOL.
For the Novelty Event today, a total of 8 pupis from our class participated and we came in last. But it is alright as at 10.30 a.m., we went up to the hall and Mdm Junida was announcing the winners of the Novelty Event. But the most exciting part was who was the best in the level and school. Suddenly, Mrs Chien told us that we will be getting the 'Best in Primary 6' and 'Best in the school" trophy. I was pretty confident that we will get the 'Best in Primary 6' trophy but I was puzzled about the 'Best in the school' trophy as other classes like 4Faith and 5Hope got a couple of gold medals too. So I was telling Mrs Chien that maybe the trophy do not belong to us. I forgot about the winners of Primary 3 but true enough, 4Faith won the best in the level and 5Hope also won the trophy. Then it was the Primary 6's turn. As Mdm Junida asked "Who do you think will be the champion of Primary 6?" Then our class went crazy shouting "6Grace!" So Mdm Junida announced that it was really 6Grace. At that time, we went "6Grace!6Grace!" and Audrey went up to collect the prize. Then later was the trophy for the best in the school and Mdm Junida said it was 6 Grace. At that time, I was shocked as I thought 5 Hope would win the trophy but I still continued cheering for 6Grace as Yun Na went up the stage to collect the prize. Later the class that won the prize would stay back, so we stayed back for a while before taking a class picture with the 2 trophies. Carlo was holding the 'Best in the school' trophy and raising it up high.

After that, we went back to class. Mrs Chien said she wanted to give us 2 words so she drew a heart and wrote the word SUPPORT. She said that we won the trophies because other people give in their skills but we gave in our heart. Then she said that if other classes cheered that loud, it was okay because at Primary 4, you do not need to be cool and when it comes to Primary 5, we will hardly open our mouth and cheer and at Primary 6 , everyone will not be cheering as they want to look cool. Then Mrs Chien said our class was ugly as we were cheering. I mean ugly in a good sense like we were cheering like mad and that encourages our promising athletes to get the medals.

I AM SURE THAT 6GRACE PUPILS INCLUDING ME ENJOYED THE PROCESS ALTHOUGH SOME OF OUR RUNNERS DID NOT GET A MEDAL

Wednesday 25 March 2009

Today was a really fun and exciting day for us as it was the Annual Sports Meet. Please do not blame me if I miss out anything that was important.

It started off with the school singing the national anthem, pledge and the school song. Then later when Mrs Chien told us that one of the guest of honor was Audrey's father and wanted us to shout loudly when the school's principal announced his name, we were very excited. So when the school's principal announced his name, the whole class was shouting like we were all crazy. Thus, many people infront of us were staring at us but we were not even a bit embarrassed. As it was very hot, many of us used umbrellas to cover themselves, while some even put sunblock.

The 1st race was the 100M p3 girls, followed by p3 boys, p4 girls, p4 boys, p5 girls. When it came to the p5 boys, the boys(includes Remus, Juan Pang and me) infront were very excited as one of the school's fastest sprinter were down there racing and his name was Paul KJ. He was in the crouch start position and all of the boys were very excited and once the race started, we were shouting like mad. "Paul! Paul! AHH! Paul!" we shouted. Zoom! He was the 1st and kept a distance about 10 metres from the 2nd placed runner.

Now, it is the P6 turn and I think we did very well. Si Jia was in the 100m P6 girls and Carlo was in the 100m P6 boys. First came the 100m P6 girls race, and Mrs Chien and I told the class to shout in a manner. So, when the horn blasted and we went " Si Jia! Si Jia! Si Jia! Si Jia!..." IN the end, Si Jia was 2nd and the class did she did a very well job as she got a silver medal. Later, it was Carlo's turn. He was being put up with many great runners like Kim Do Hyun and Glenn. Everyone thought Glenn and Kim Do Hyun could win but we was wrong. We all shouted "AHHHH! Carlo ! Carlo!" and Carlo was very close to the Glenn and Kim Do Hyun who were the 2nd and 3rd runner respectively. Carlo was actually 2nd when about 5m away from the finishing line but Carlo was smart, he put his right foot forward and touched the line first. Actually, the class thought Carlo was 2nd as we were sitted quite high so we could not see very clearly. Then, the teacher, Mdm Junida was announcing the results of the 100m sprint. When it came to p5 boys, Paul won the gold medal. Then it came to the p6 girls 100m, Si Jia was in second position, then we went" YAY! AHH! YAY!" All of us were over the moon as our class got a silver medal. Then it was Carlo's turn, because we all thought that Carlo was 2nd, we are shocked when Mdn Junida said "John Carlo, 6Grace". We were so happy and we went crazy shouting "Carlo" all the time. And when the two promising athletes went to their seat, Mrs Chien shook their hand and we were shouting their name for many times and of course, congratulating them.

Soon, a announcement came "P5 and P6 teachers, please select 2 representatives to collect the NEWater. Mrs Chien asked Remus and I to go down and collect the water. Then we found out that one carton had 12 bottles but our class had 39 pupils. So we were puzzled for a while then I thought "I take 2 cartons and Remus take 1 carton as some people may not want the NEWater." So I took 2 cartons and went up. Sure enough, some people did not want to drink as they thought that NEWater was recycled water and though it was disgusting but in the end, I still went down to talk 1 more as we were afraid that it was not enough for the class as it had to last for the entire day. We were celebrating with Carlo in the hot sun and we were almost getting burnt as the Sun is really very warm. So most of us went to the toilet to pour water on our bodies as Mrs Chien did not want to dirty the place. By then, my voice was very soft as I shouted my lungs out when we were cheering. The next event was the p3 girls 2 x 100m sprint, followed by 2 x 100m p3 boys, p4 girls and p4 boys. But when it came to P5 the whole event changed as now it was the 2 x 200m sprint because we are in the higher primary. Then Ms Tay came and strike a deal with 6Grace, she said that we will cheer for them and we must cheer for 5Charity. I think Ms Tay approached us because we were cheering the loudest. So it was Primary 5 2 x 200m but we must not forget that we have to cheer for 5 Charity so we went shouting '5Charity' and I think Ms Tay was glad. So it was Primary 5 boys, as each people could only take part in 1 event so we did not manage to see Paul running but never mind. Then it was the Primary 6 girls 2 x 200m and Primary 6 boys 2 x 200m sprint. The girls who were running in 6 Grace were Soh Li Ping and Yi Lin and the boys were Remus and Juan Pang. So the girls raced first, I am not very sure who started first so I cannot say the name as I may be wrong. I will just say that one of the girl ran and passed the baton to the other girl and they finished 4th. As I know the 1st runners, I shall say their name. They were Lee You and En Yi I think it is quite a achievement although they did not get a medal BUT the points system was from 1st to 7th so it is alright as we got some points. Later it was Remus' turn, I am pretty confident that Remus started first but he was in the lead but he had to travel more distance as he was in the outer track. So the horn blasted and Remus was sprinting very fast, but one of my friends from the other class was overtaking Remus and was sprinting even faster and finally overtook Remus when it was at the 100m mark. But what really angered me was that I saw Remus slowing down at the 100m mark and 2 runners overtook him. But Remus was still fast and he did not let the rest overtook him. So when he passed the baton to Juan Pang, Juan Pang was already 4th BUT he had to overcome a greater distance as he was in the outer lane, so when the turn was over, he was the last BUT he ran very fast and overtook the last runner and was very happy to be 5th. Although I was really angry, I still cheered for them and was very happy with their performance. But I laughed during the race, do you want to know why? Because earlier on, I told you that Douglas, the guy from the other class was leading and the person he passed the baton was very fast. So that guy, Chia Chih was leading by about 10m so he stopped before the finishing line and jumped over it. It was a very funny scence.

As the Sun was really too hot, the class moved behind to a shady place. There, another teacher called Mrs Wee wanted to make another deal with Mrs Chien as our cheering was really too good. But her class was a Primary 5 class and we already have a deal with Ms Tay so in the end, we shaked the bottles containing green beans and we did not shout anything, thus, we were cheering for 5Charity and 5 Grace.
Although this time, none of our runners was at the prize presentation, there were 1 of our classmate and he is YI WEN and Shanice. The day before the Annual Sports Meet, the students participated in the field events, namely Shotput and Javelin. Yi Wen came in 1st for the Shotput event and Shanice came in 3rd we were all cheering for them when he recieved the gold medal. Then our best run came, the 4 x 100m sprint. Our class is professional at this event as those runners were all very good and fast runners although what they achieved was beyond of our expectations. The p6 girls 4 x 100m of 6Grace came in GOLD and we were cheering for them throughout the race. There came the 4 x 100m sprint p6 boys, as we were sitting too far behind, we went down and cheered for them. But I went to the ground floor as I wanted to get Chen Zung the last runner of our team to finish the race, getting a medal on the way. So the race started and the class above was cheering with their last might. When the baton was passed to Chen Zung, I ran beside him, outside the track while he was running. I shouted "CHEN ZUNG! CHEN ZUNG! FASTER!" I ran beside him till the finishing line and he came in 1st. I was so happy and delighted and I ran forward to congraluate him.

This was the most exciting event. And that is 'Teachers and Parents Novelty Event' and Mrs Chien was participating. So I told the whole class to go down and we cheered for Mrs Chien when she was doing the basketball dribbling and solving the puzzle. The teachers got 1st prize and the students shouted with all their might. Mrs Chien told us that the plaque she got was her first medal and we were all very happy for her.I forgot to tell you that Li Wei Wei got gold for javelin, so sorry about that. So we were all very happy and was dismissed and the bus brought us back to school.

I THINK TODAY WAS A VERY FUN AND EXCITING DAY AND I HOPE TO HAVE MORE SUCH EVENTS

If i am on a deserted island for one month, I would bring the following five items:

1) First Aid Kit
Reason:
In case i got injured, I would need something to cover my wound.

2) Water Bottle
Reason:
We cannot drink seawater and dew water is too little for a person. (I think)

3) Knife
Reason:
I can use it to collect woods by cutting down trees and making fire AND making a spear to catch fish.

4) A Toy OR A Robot
Reason:
To prevent myself from dying from boredom.

5) Sleeping Bag
Reason:
I would not like to sleep on the sand or on the filty grass.

If i am in a deserted island, i would bring.....

  1. first aid kit

i will not able to know if there is hospital ,houses or a place where i could stay when i am injured .So it will be better if i bring my first aid kid and i can use it any time when i am injured .

2. a sleeping bag

if i am cold, especially in night, i can snug in to my sleeping bag and sleep peacefully through the night.Instead of shivering ....through the night .

3.matchstick/lighter/things that can make fire

if i am cold, i can build fire, to warm myself .I might also want to leave the place so if i see a passing helicopter/plane ....passing i might want to build a very large fire to tell people that i am here!!!

4.bottles(with lots and lots of water!!!)maybe a kettle

i would never want to drink seawater!!!!I would drink up all the water from the bottles i bring. After i finish ,i would like to use my lighter(things that produce heat)to heat up the seawater. than i will get fresh water!

5.book

oh ! also not to forget about a book! Your favourite book or other things that keep u away from boredom !!!If you are the only person at the island, you sure will feel bored

If i am spending one month alone on a deserted island i would bring :

1)First aid

Bring First aid could help me if l am injured because the island has no hospital or doctor to help me bandage my wound at all

2) A lighter
At the deserted island i can use the lighter to keep myself warn by making fire with the woods

3) A windbreaker

the windbreaker could help me to keep out of the wind (also help to keep warm)

4) several bottles of water and kettle

I could boil the water from the river and pour it into my bottle thus when i go to find food i do not need to worry about the water as i will carry it along

5) tent

the tent could help me by preventing animals from attacking me or harm me.

hansheng
i would bring swiss army knife ,lots of water, lighter, aid kit, lots of canned food, and i think im ready for any challenges in life.... i chose it as they are the things most important in an adventure.last time someone thought me that these things are important for survival,i would bring swiss army knifes for protection water to lack my thirst, lighter to guide me at night, aid kit to heal my injuries and canned food to eat.thats all i think it could last me for long enough in a desserted island.maybe a few moths... haha:)

(1) You are alone in a deserted island.Prepare a survival kit. You can only bring 5 items.
The first thing i would bring is the kettle. That's because i could take the sea water ,put it inside the kettle, collect some wood and find two stones , rub it against each other, wait four it to boil and there it is, a warm and fresh water .The fact that when you bring a big bottle filled water, it would used up for a couple of day only! (it may be a very hot weather there .) The next thing is a tent ,(a water proof one!) Well, you need shelter of course, from the rain & the hot sun!The other thing is a swiss army knife, large & expensive . In it,there is a knife that you could slice and open a coconut.A fork & to eat it,in the swiss army knifemay come in handy in eating. Then ofcourse you would need extra clothes! Even tough you are alone i stil prefer to wear something on.The last, sleeping bag. Well definately! Or else you would be sleeping on the hard ground with the thin tent material!

Yan Ting :)

if i were left alone and had to spend one month on a deserted island,i would prepare...

1)A big bottle of water and some empty bottles. The bottle of water would last me for a while until i find a lake or river to fill up my other bottles.

2)A small pot to cook my food and boil the water i got from the rivers or lakes to make sure it is safe to drink.

3)A torchlight and some spare batteries. In the wild, the only light source are the sun and the moon. But at night, the sun would be down and the moon light will be very dim.If the moon is blocked out, there will not be light to help me find my way.

4)A few boxes of match sticks to start a fire to cook my food. And in the wild,it is very cold at night.I would need a camp fire to keep me warm.

5)A windbreaker or a raincoat. In the wild, the nights can be very chilly.Even in the afternoon,if it rains,it will be cold too.So i need a windbreaker to keep me from getting a chill and to shelter me from the rain if the shelter i have is not enough to keep the rain out.

6)A pocket knife. In case i was attack by any wild animals,i have a weapon to protect myself with. And maybe to cut up some edible fruits i might find in the wild.

7)A first-aid kit.If i were to get injured,i can bandage the wound so it will not be infected,it will heal faster and i can keep it from getting scratched by any sharp objects again.

tan siqi
I would bring water, food, a first aid kit, a lighter and a jacket. I need water and food so that I can survive. I need the First Aid Kit in case I get hurt, I can bandage my wounds.I can use the lighter to cook my food and I can use the jacket in case it becomes very cold at night.

Rae Ann
THE THING I WOULD BRING IS
1)Materials to make a bow and arrows
Reason: IF there is no lake or pond, there would not be any fishes but there is surely land or
flying animals that i can catch to eat.
2)A lighter
Reason:When night falls, i would need a light source and heat too provide me with warmth
3)A knife
Reason:I would need to cut down wood to make aa fire bigger and cut food(If needed).
4)First-Aid
Reason:If i am injurd i would be able to use the itmes first-Aid
5)A tent
Reason:So that i would be able to sleep in peace whithout needing to be attacked by animals
DONE BY:Lim Zhi Xiang
The 5 Items Are:-
1. A lighter
2. A BIG bottle of water
3. A portable knife
4. A torch light
5. A few books (if my bag is not heavy)

A lighter is useful as it can make fire that can not only cook fish but
can also attract people to rescue me.

It is needed in life as it is essential to me and without it,I can not only
survive that long and also I will get dehydrated.

A knife is useful to cut the branches that block my way to find food.

A torch light is use for finding the way when it is dark,to keep the wild
animals away from me and it is also a good companion.

A few books is the best for me when i'm bored on the deserted island and
I can not only waste time but make full use of my free time with pleasure.

Friday 20 March 2009

The five things i would bring is:
First Aid Kit
A tent with a few blankets or sleeping bag
A solar powered torchlight (if there is one)
A fishing kit (rod, baits,etc.....)
As much water as i can bring with me

I would bring the first aid kit because if i get injured and get a wound, there areb some stuff in the first aid kit to prevent the wound from getting infected and allow it to heal faster.

The tent is for sleeping in it and the blankets are for keeping me warm from the cold temperature at night while I am sleeping.

The torch light is used at night when there is hardly any light to see the surroundings and it makes it easier to move around when its pitch dark. And if there is a solar power torchlight I can recharge it during the day.

I would bring the fishing kit because I can fish for food so i do not bring so much food and to make fir i bet there is some dried and hard things to start a fire so i can cook the fishes and I won't have to eat it raw which tastes wierd.

I would bring alot of mineral water as when I am on a island the water around it is salt water and if i drink salt water, I would die faster so i need plenty of plain or mineral water.

Darren
If i am going to spend a month on a deserted island, the five items i would bring is......
1)My handphone.I will be able to communicate with my family, friends or other people.I will also be able to call for help when i meet dangers.

2)Foods and water.Food and water is important for all living things and it will prevent me from getting hungry.I will have to make sure that the amount of food i bring will be able to last me for the whole month because i might not be able to find any source of food or water there.Tibits are light and convient,i will surely bring that.

3)A torchlight.A torchlight is necessary, it will come in handy when it is dark or at night. It will help me look at things carefully.

4)A tent and sleeping bag.Whenever it is raining,i will get into the tent to avoid the rain.During the night ,the temperature will be freezing the sleeping bag will act as an blanket to prevent me from freezing.

  1. 5)First Aid Kit.A First Aid Kit is necessary as it will come in handy whenever i am injured.

Thursday 19 March 2009

What will I bring?
Mmm.... Maybe
1. torchlight
2. a small first aid bag
3. a tent
4.many bottles of mineral water
5. my camera
Why?
All the things that I bring are very important stuff. Like when it is in the night I will need a torchlight as the place that I am going is a deserted place. If I don't bring it, I will be playing blind mice in he place. A small first aid bag, well I am a person who love plasters so just a small cut I will need a plaster. But anyway carrying a first aid bag is safe, so if i am sick or I fell the first aid box will come in handy. Now the most important of all are the tent and 8 bottles of mineral water. Without a tent where am I going to sleep don't tell me in the bag where I put all my clothes? Everyone knows that without water we are not able to survive as we would be thirst to death! Lastly my camera, actually bringing the camera is not really important. But to me it is, the subject science to me is a horrific subject so in this trip would be able to take pictures of different types of plants maybe poisonous one, a leave that looked like an animal etc then bring it home and check he internet. So in this trip i may be able to brush up my subject.(interacting with things around us) :) ;)
If i could only bring 5 items i would bring ...
1) A First Aid Kit
2) Matches
3) Swiss Army Knife
4) A Huge Water bottle
5) A Tent
Why would i bring those items? well the first aid kit is just in case i get injured, with it i can clean my wounds and prevent it from getting infected. Matches so i can make a fire to cook food on and to give me light. Swiss Army Knife,to cut stuff with and many others things as it is a multipurpose tool. Huge Water bottle,so that i do not get dehydrated. And lastly a tent, to sleep in and protect myself from the weather.
Erika
What i would bring :
1) a first aid kit
2) lighter
3) sleeping bag
4) knife
5) lots and lots of water

Why :
I would bring a first aid kit just incase i get injured and infected, a lighter is to heat things up when i am cold and it would also provide me with light when it is dark, a sleeping bag for me to sleep on because i dont get used to sleeping on a hard surface without any blanket covering me and i do not want to get dirty, knife is for my protection and defense if there is anyone trying to hurt me and it is also useful for me to cut or slice somthing, water is to quench my thirst if i am thirsty or exhausted.

Wednesday 18 March 2009

I would bring a knife, a compass, a first aid kit, a jacket and a lighter. I would bring a knife to kill animals for food, cut the stems of a plant for water and protect myself from predators. I would bring a compass so that I can find my way and know which direction I am going, if I get lost. I would bring a first aid kit because if I get injured, I can bandage myself so it can heal faster. I would bring a jacket to cover myself and keep myself warm at night, so when I sleep, I will not catch flu so easily. I would bring a lighter to cook the animals I killed, use it as torchlight to find my way in the dark and build a fire to keep mItalicyself warm.

lydia ng

Q1- 5 items that i need...

1. Lighter
2. Cooking pot
3.Clothes
4.Tissue box(200 sheets)
5.Swiss knife

1.Lighter-I don't think in the middle of the night when there's no light there would be a street lamp provided in a deserted island for me so this is when the lighter is a great hero, not only to see but also keep me warm when the temperature is really low.
2.Cooking pot-I choose not to bring water bottles along with me because imagine the weight of all of the bottles of water that i have to carry.I would prefer to get some water from the lakes or the beach and boil it,and if i am lucky enough to make a fishing rod and fish,i can use it to cook the fish.
3.Clothes-This is something i would never forget if i am leaving my country,to keep myself warm.Change if i stink.(Don't laugh, not funny)
4.Tissue box-For me,i think tissue is really quite important and for hygine purposes its a big thing.
5.Swiss Knife-Somehow,to protect myself and to use it to cut fruits and maybe fishes.
-These is all i need to bring if something like this would happen to me and if you ask me what would i do to spent the rest of the time,i guess explore!(and hope i am lucky enough to survive.)~Audrey Lee
If i only can bring 5 items , they are:-
1)Swiss army knife
2)2 gallons of water
3)First Aid Kit(include seawater desalting kit)
4)fishing kit
5)A packet of hard bread

The swiss army knife is for multipurpose use such as cutting fruits , vegetables and meat . 2 gallons of water for drinking , fishing kit for fishing for fish if there is nearby waters , seawater desalting kit for desalting seawater and first aid kit for nursing wounds . last but not least , A packet of hard bread which is high in calories to survive for a few days.

i were bring a knife, a lighter ,a cooking pot, sleeping bag and first-aid kid. i bring a knife as i can defend myself from wild animals,a lighter can be useful as i can use it to cook my food and i can also use it to burn wood to keep my body warm during a cold day ,a cooking pot can be used to boil the water i collected in this island and for cooking food,a sleeping bag as i can sleep comfortably in the place and a first-aid kid as when i feel sick and get injured i can use it to cure my wounds or my sickness. from jiade
Q2.
I expect many people in the world to have secrets, like me. I kept it for a year(very long) Ummm...what effects are there? When people ask me about it,i have to say i don't want to tell them and it's not a very nice thing to do. So, that's the effect.
Yi Rui
The 5 things I would bring..
1)A huge water bottle. (with water inside of course!)
2)Few pieces of bread.
3)A matchbox.
4)Paper.
5)First-aid Kit.

Explanation~
1)Water is one of the most important daily needs. If there is no water, I reckon nobody can survive unless there is no such thing as water in this world.
2)Bread is the only thing that can make me full, even a little piece.(I'm speaking the truth.)
3)When night falls, I can light up a matchstick and see what is going on around me and I can also get warmth so I would not freeze to death.
4)I can burn paper instead of wood to help and save the trees!(I don't know if this can be counted or not.)
5)I can bandage my wounds if i get injured.

If i was to pack my own survival kit, this is what i will pack:

  • My jacket
  • A box of matches
  • Food(biscuits...)
  • First aid kit
  • Mosquito repellent

My jacket to prevent me from getting cold as the forest is really cold at night. A box of matches so that i get warmth and light. It is also good for scaring out animals that might hurt me and steal my food. Food is, of course, essential for survival so if i am injured and cannot hunt for food (animals),those biscuits can be used as backup. First aid kit to bandage my wounds if i am injured by something. Mosquito repellent because i truly hate those mozzies.

Yi Rui

If i have to spend a month alone on a desserted island, i would like to bring a kife or an axe, a compass, alot of matchsticks, a very big tent and if can, i also like to bring a laptop with internet too!
When i reached the island i will start to make the tent inorder to sleep, after making the tent i will take the compass to see where was my location. In the island there surely have animals and plants, and now the knife or the axe have its function, it was to kill the animals to get food and there was some plants if you cut some part of it, it will have water came out and the knife or the axe can use to protect myself. When some animals were killde by me i will bring them to the location where i live and use the matchsticks to roast the animals to eat. Finally, when the night time came i will use the laptop to play or chat. I think repeat the following things for a month i will not hungry, thirsty or bord.
Li WeiWei
If i were to spend a month alone on a desserted island,i would bring
1. i would bring matchsticks(probably 2 boxes)
2. i would bring can food(1 carton)
3.cling wrap(1 roll)
4. blanket(as much cloth as possible;as thick as possible)
5. first-aid kit
i bring match sticks to make fire and as light for me to see in the dark.Blanket as in the desert, in the night it would be very cold and cloth just in case i need it for other purposes.First-aid kit in case i get injured.cling wrap for me to 'clean' the water. And the sissors in the First-aid kit would be also very useful.i ill not bring handphones, laptops etc. as i do not think there will be any signal there.
If Doremon exist, i would jusst have to bring it there!

Tuesday 17 March 2009

I will bring a matchbox with matchsticks in it so I can build a fire to keep myself warm at night and cook my food if needed.

I will bring a first aid kit so when I am injured, I can use the items inside the kit to cover my wound and heal them slowly.

I will bring a torchlight with spare batteries so I can find my way at night if I want to go out as it is the only resource of light.

I will bring some big bottles of water along with me or a pot with me because water is the most important source to survive as for the pot, I can cook the water on the fire if I do not want to bring the bottles after I refilled them if there is a water source nearby the island.

I will bring some food that can last for a long time so I will not die of hunger and will not run out of supplies so fast as food is the second most important source of survival.

If I were to be left alone and to spend one month alone on an deserted island, I would prepare...
1) A big bottle of water. Water is the essential needs of living things. Even if without food, water can still allow us to survive. In the wild, it is better to have clean water to drink than having to drink lake or river water. Water is a precious resource, therefore, it has to treasured and it will always be needed.
2) A torchlight and some spare batteries. In the wild, the only resorce of light at night would be from the moon. But it is very dim and I would not beable to see things clearly. With the torchlight, I would beable to see clearly and not be afraid of any creatures in the wild. The spare batteries will come in handy when the torch runs out of energy and i can change the batteries.
3) A box of matchsticks. It would be very cold in the wild at night
Without the heat from the Sun to keep me warm and cosy, at night I would be freezing. Therefore, I would need the matchsticks to help make a camp fire to keep me warm.
4) A windbreaker or jacket. During the night, the wind could be strong and even with the camp fire to keep me warm, it would still be cold as the fire might be put out. It is also to prevent myself from getting a chill as it might rain at times and the shelter I have might not beable to shelter me.
5) A first-aid kit. In order to prevent the injuries that I have, the first-aid kit would help to stop the infection and help make the injuries recover faster. The first-aid kit can also help with some of the things needed for survival skills.

I choose (Q1)
The five things i will choose to bring:
1.Food so i will not starve to death and part of our daily needs.
2. Water as it is the most important thing for us among our daily needs as it is needed for us to survive and i do not want to die of dehydration.
3. A matchbox so that i will be able to light it up when it is dark and for fire.
4. Paper so it will replace the branch for the fire place as it is lighter.
5. I will lastly bring a first aid kit because if i am injured, i can apply medicine from the first aid kit.
I will not be bringing a map or a compass as it is not needed because i am to spend one month and not to be desserted there.

If I was to spend one month alone on a deserted island,
1) i will bring water as it is the most most important thing to keep me alive.
2) I will bring a compass as i need to knoe where is which direction so that i will not be lost.
3) i will bring matchbox so that i can make a fire and keep myself warm.
4) i will bring a first aid kit as i need it when i get injured..
5) i will bring a torch light as it will be quite dark at night and i can use it to look for my way out if i am lost.

If i were to spend one month alone on a deserted island, i will pack my handphone in case i get lost on the deserted island so i can call my family or police. Next i will bring 2 big bottles of water so i can drink on the island instead of dying of thirst , i will also bring alot of food so i will not starve to death and the next item i will bring is 2 boxes of matchsticks so i can make a fire to keep myself warm and next i will bring a jacket in case i get cold.

If i were to spend a month on a deserted island alone, i would bring these 5 items:
1) My handphone. I can communicate with my family with my handphone. I also need to bring extra phone batteries to last for a month as there would not be any socket to charge my handphone even if i were to bring my charger.
2)A torchlight. When it is night time or when the sky gets dark, the torchlight would come in handy. I would also need to bring tons of batteries for the torchlight as the torchlight would definitely run out of battery.
3)Some food and drinks enough to last 4 a month. when i am hungry or thirsty, i would be able to eat and drink to keep my tummy full so that i would not starve to death or get dehydrated and die^_^.
4)I may also bring a laptop to chat with my family if i don't want to use my handphone and chat. I must bring loooots of extra batteries and a portable broadband as there will not be any internet connection there. I may also play games on my laptop if i am not tired and can't get to sleep.
5)A first-aid kit and daily neccessities. If i had forgotten to bring my torchlight with me during the time when i am exploring the island, i may get injured. That is when the first-aid kit will come in handy.

If I were to spent one month on a deserted island alone, I'll bring compass to locate the direction as I can get lost. The second item that I'm going to bring is a magnifying glass as I can use it for making fire.Thirdly, I'll bring a mirror as if there is any aeroplane going I'll use my mirror to get a attention from the pilot so that they will send some people to save me.Fourthly, camel. I'll get exhausted if I keep on walking and I do not need to waste energy too much walking so, I need a camel. Lastly, I'll bring the water. Water is most important of all the items as I do not need to die because of the thirst. Anyway I know that I'll never never go to the dessert, but if I go there, I'm sure that I'll survive.

i would bring lots of water to prevent my from dying of thirst, food, to prevent me from dying of hunger, handphone and a few hanphone batteries and finally, two box of matchsticks.
i would bring my handphone because if i am in danger or lost, i can contact the police or my family members to come and rescue me. i would also bring some handphone batteries bacause it might run out of batteres. i chose matchsticks instead of torchlight because matchsticks can cook food and give heat at night so i would not be cold. i can use my handphone as torchlight too.zoen.
If I were to spent one month on a deserted island alone, I would have to bring a waterbottle. If there are no lakes, streams, or pools of water, and if the island has no seasonal supply of water, the only way to obtain water is by taking it from trees or any kind of NON-POISON plants...obviously. Coconuts are a good example, there is juice inside them, and it is very nutritious, and refreshing, Yum. By the way, deserted islands are usually uninhabited, but there are a good lot of plants and NEVER let a coconut drop on your head, obviously... The second item I need to bring are signal lights and flares or anything to make people spot you when they come to rescue you. The third item is a knife, it will help you in cutting or whatever, basically in survival there are quite a couple of things you are are not strong enough to do. The fourth item is a first-aid kit, you WILL get injured. The last item is an inflatable rubber dingy. Escape from a deserted island is your number one priority. You also need oars. Deserted islands are in tropical oceans which have lots of busy shipping lanes, hopefully a ship will spot you so you need the flares. For food you need to do what you must to survive. Tidbits or any kind of food will not last for a week without proper storage. If you want to save the lives of the food animals ( what have they done to deserve to get eaten, poor animals ) , fruit and edible plants are the best substitution. PS. If you bring a mobile phone, there will be no transmission. Besides, you have no need for electronics, they will not last. PSS. Courtesy of Man vs Wild for the information. Timothy Timuari.
If I were to spend 1 month in the desert, I would bring my handphone. Well, if I am in danger, at least I can call the police or my family to save me. Also it provides very little light but a handphone only can last for like 10 hours so I would try to bring as many newly recharged handphone batteries in order to last enough for 1month and also if I am bored, I can play games, take a picture with my camel and etc but that will waste a lot of battery.

Secondly, I would bring a torchlight (one of the most important thing if you are going for a camp trip). When it is dark, it will be very frightening because it is in the desert. And when night comes, it is going to be very dark with no light so we need a lot of batteries to be sufficent enough for 1 month.

I would bring my precious water and food. Because when there is not food, you will die over there. And it's not worth to die because of a camping trip so it's best to bring tidbits and bottles of water as they are light enough to carry.

I would bring my suntan lotion and daily necessties because the desert is really really hot and I do not want to be black in colour when I go back home, looking like a black -american as I'm a Singaporean. So that's a must.

Lastly, I would bring my laptop and not a sleeping bag because i like sleeping in sandy places. I remember in a soccer game, I was like lying down in the mud and I do not feel disgusted. So I think my body is able to adapt to dirt or being dirty. I can play my laptop and chat with my family and friends even though I am in the desert. Wait ! I must also bring 20 laptop batteries and a broadband because int he desert, there is no internet connection and it is impossible to chat with my friends and family.
Q1) If i were to spend one month on a dessert, i would definately pack my hand phone just in case if something happens i could contact my parent or my relatives. The second item that i am going to pack is lots and lots of water(although it may be impossible to do that)because if i where trap inside a dessert for one month i would need alot of water to keep me alive and maybe i would also bring some food which will at least last me for thirdty-one days(but will not count that as the third item). The third item that i will bring is a sleeping bag,i am a girl, i prefer sleeping on a sleeping bag then on the sandy and drity floor. The fourth item that i would bring will be a torch with lots of batteries, because think i will afirad of the dark when no one is with me. The fifth item that i am going to bring is my family photo because to be away with my family for eleven days is bad enough, so i will definately miss my parents and my family, therefore i will bring my family photo to remind me of my family. And that is all the things that i would bring if i were to spend one month in the dessert, but of course i would not want to spent one month in the dessert.

Reflection on Hatchet Debate

Within 1 hour, 39 pupils spoke out and shared some of their thoughts on a given topic and in so doing allowed others to have insight of their own beliefs and values - think of the 'Perfect Home' discussion.

I would like to applaud the 39 individuals for bringing such a professional quality to the debate - all contributed to its success and the 'energy' that resulted from this concerted effort will be converted into greater motivation for 6 Grace.

Please take time to reflect and share your thoughts on the following:

How did this debate affect my perceptions of myself?
In what ways did the debate fit my learning style?
Has it influenced the way I perceive English and Literature?
What did the debate show us about the 'tricks' authors use to captivate the heart and mind of the reader?

I had such pleasure hosting the debate and I felt the true magic of 6 Grace.

Please post your thoughts. Thank you.
