The five things i would bring is:
First Aid Kit
A tent with a few blankets or sleeping bag
A solar powered torchlight (if there is one)
A fishing kit (rod, baits,etc.....)
As much water as i can bring with me

I would bring the first aid kit because if i get injured and get a wound, there areb some stuff in the first aid kit to prevent the wound from getting infected and allow it to heal faster.

The tent is for sleeping in it and the blankets are for keeping me warm from the cold temperature at night while I am sleeping.

The torch light is used at night when there is hardly any light to see the surroundings and it makes it easier to move around when its pitch dark. And if there is a solar power torchlight I can recharge it during the day.

I would bring the fishing kit because I can fish for food so i do not bring so much food and to make fir i bet there is some dried and hard things to start a fire so i can cook the fishes and I won't have to eat it raw which tastes wierd.

I would bring alot of mineral water as when I am on a island the water around it is salt water and if i drink salt water, I would die faster so i need plenty of plain or mineral water.

If i am going to spend a month on a deserted island, the five items i would bring is......
1)My handphone.I will be able to communicate with my family, friends or other people.I will also be able to call for help when i meet dangers.

2)Foods and water.Food and water is important for all living things and it will prevent me from getting hungry.I will have to make sure that the amount of food i bring will be able to last me for the whole month because i might not be able to find any source of food or water there.Tibits are light and convient,i will surely bring that.

3)A torchlight.A torchlight is necessary, it will come in handy when it is dark or at night. It will help me look at things carefully.

4)A tent and sleeping bag.Whenever it is raining,i will get into the tent to avoid the rain.During the night ,the temperature will be freezing the sleeping bag will act as an blanket to prevent me from freezing.

  1. 5)First Aid Kit.A First Aid Kit is necessary as it will come in handy whenever i am injured.

What will I bring?
Mmm.... Maybe
1. torchlight
2. a small first aid bag
3. a tent
4.many bottles of mineral water
5. my camera
Why?
All the things that I bring are very important stuff. Like when it is in the night I will need a torchlight as the place that I am going is a deserted place. If I don't bring it, I will be playing blind mice in he place. A small first aid bag, well I am a person who love plasters so just a small cut I will need a plaster. But anyway carrying a first aid bag is safe, so if i am sick or I fell the first aid box will come in handy. Now the most important of all are the tent and 8 bottles of mineral water. Without a tent where am I going to sleep don't tell me in the bag where I put all my clothes? Everyone knows that without water we are not able to survive as we would be thirst to death! Lastly my camera, actually bringing the camera is not really important. But to me it is, the subject science to me is a horrific subject so in this trip would be able to take pictures of different types of plants maybe poisonous one, a leave that looked like an animal etc then bring it home and check he internet. So in this trip i may be able to brush up my subject.(interacting with things around us) :) ;)
If i could only bring 5 items i would bring ...
1) A First Aid Kit
2) Matches
3) Swiss Army Knife
4) A Huge Water bottle
5) A Tent
Why would i bring those items? well the first aid kit is just in case i get injured, with it i can clean my wounds and prevent it from getting infected. Matches so i can make a fire to cook food on and to give me light. Swiss Army Knife,to cut stuff with and many others things as it is a multipurpose tool. Huge Water bottle,so that i do not get dehydrated. And lastly a tent, to sleep in and protect myself from the weather.

What i would bring :
1) a first aid kit
2) lighter
3) sleeping bag
4) knife
5) lots and lots of water

Why :
I would bring a first aid kit just incase i get injured and infected, a lighter is to heat things up when i am cold and it would also provide me with light when it is dark, a sleeping bag for me to sleep on because i dont get used to sleeping on a hard surface without any blanket covering me and i do not want to get dirty, knife is for my protection and defense if there is anyone trying to hurt me and it is also useful for me to cut or slice somthing, water is to quench my thirst if i am thirsty or exhausted.

I would bring a knife, a compass, a first aid kit, a jacket and a lighter. I would bring a knife to kill animals for food, cut the stems of a plant for water and protect myself from predators. I would bring a compass so that I can find my way and know which direction I am going, if I get lost. I would bring a first aid kit because if I get injured, I can bandage myself so it can heal faster. I would bring a jacket to cover myself and keep myself warm at night, so when I sleep, I will not catch flu so easily. I would bring a lighter to cook the animals I killed, use it as torchlight to find my way in the dark and build a fire to keep mItalicyself warm.

Q1- 5 items that i need...

1. Lighter
2. Cooking pot
3.Clothes
4.Tissue box(200 sheets)
5.Swiss knife

1.Lighter-I don't think in the middle of the night when there's no light there would be a street lamp provided in a deserted island for me so this is when the lighter is a great hero, not only to see but also keep me warm when the temperature is really low.
2.Cooking pot-I choose not to bring water bottles along with me because imagine the weight of all of the bottles of water that i have to carry.I would prefer to get some water from the lakes or the beach and boil it,and if i am lucky enough to make a fishing rod and fish,i can use it to cook the fish.
3.Clothes-This is something i would never forget if i am leaving my country,to keep myself warm.Change if i stink.(Don't laugh, not funny)
4.Tissue box-For me,i think tissue is really quite important and for hygine purposes its a big thing.
5.Swiss Knife-Somehow,to protect myself and to use it to cut fruits and maybe fishes.
-These is all i need to bring if something like this would happen to me and if you ask me what would i do to spent the rest of the time,i guess explore!(and hope i am lucky enough to survive.)~Audrey Lee
If i only can bring 5 items , they are:-
1)Swiss army knife
2)2 gallons of water
3)First Aid Kit(include seawater desalting kit)
4)fishing kit
5)A packet of hard bread

The swiss army knife is for multipurpose use such as cutting fruits , vegetables and meat . 2 gallons of water for drinking , fishing kit for fishing for fish if there is nearby waters , seawater desalting kit for desalting seawater and first aid kit for nursing wounds . last but not least , A packet of hard bread which is high in calories to survive for a few days.

i were bring a knife, a lighter ,a cooking pot, sleeping bag and first-aid kid. i bring a knife as i can defend myself from wild animals,a lighter can be useful as i can use it to cook my food and i can also use it to burn wood to keep my body warm during a cold day ,a cooking pot can be used to boil the water i collected in this island and for cooking food,a sleeping bag as i can sleep comfortably in the place and a first-aid kid as when i feel sick and get injured i can use it to cure my wounds or my sickness. from jiade

Reflection on Hatchet Debate

Within 1 hour, 39 pupils spoke out and shared some of their thoughts on a given topic and in so doing allowed others to have insight of their own beliefs and values - think of the 'Perfect Home' discussion.

I would like to applaud the 39 individuals for bringing such a professional quality to the debate - all contributed to its success and the 'energy' that resulted from this concerted effort will be converted into greater motivation for 6 Grace.

Please take time to reflect and share your thoughts on the following:

How did this debate affect my perceptions of myself?
In what ways did the debate fit my learning style?
Has it influenced the way I perceive English and Literature?
What did the debate show us about the 'tricks' authors use to captivate the heart and mind of the reader?

I had such pleasure hosting the debate and I felt the true magic of 6 Grace.

Please post your thoughts. Thank you.
